A LEVEL RESULTS 2018

This year’s excellent examination results maintain Highcliffe’s position as a leading provider of Sixth Form education in the Christchurch, New Forest and Bournemouth areas and confirm Ofsted’s recent judgment that “the Sixth Form is a real strength of the school.” Since 2016 Highcliffe Sixth Form has been consistently placed towards the top of the national performance measures for the ‘value-added’ to students’ grades between GCSE and A Level.  This is reflected again in 2018’s very good results.

29% of all grades achieved were A*/A/Distinction*/Distinction.

37% of all grades achieved were A*/A/B or equivalent.  

80% of all grades were A*/A/B/C or equivalent.

Of our applied courses, 57% of our students achieved Distinction*/Distinction.

Individual success stories include

Zoe Sheard who achieved A* in Biology, A* in Chemistry, A* in EPQ, A in Maths and is currently intending to study Biochemistry at Bristol University.  

Jacob Blackmore achieved A* in Biology, A* in EPQ, A in Chemistry, A in Maths and is currently intending to study Chemistry at Imperial College or Bath University.

Annie Suenfa achieved A* in EPQ, A in Biology, A in Maths, B in Chemistry and A in Chinese.

Andrei Georghe achieve A* in Spanish, A in English Literature, A in French, B in Maths and is currently intending to study French at St Andrews.

Rachael Brangan achieved A* in Geography, A in English Literature and Language, B in Biology is is currently intending to study Geography at Kent.

Hangil Chung, who joined us from Bournemouth School for Boys achieved Distinction* in Music, Distinction in Sports, a D in Music and is currently intending to study Music at Surrey, while Alfie Wignall who joined us from Ballard School achieved an A in Film Studies, B in Psychology and C in English Literature and is currently finalising a decision about his chosen course.

Among the excellent results achieved across all subjects particularly strong results were achieved in A Level Physical Education 100% of all Grades were A* to B, A Level French where 67% of grades were A*/A, Graphics where 60% of grades were A*/A and English Literature and Language were 50% of all grades were A*/A.

The majority of our students are celebrating results that will take them to the top Russell Group universities or the most prestigious degree courses at a range of top-performing UK universities.
